Server requirements
Supported operating systems, hardware minimums, and database sizing guidance.
v24.0
Supported operating systems
Server OS
- Windows Server 2016 (all editions — support ends Jan 12, 2027)
- Windows Server 2019 (all editions — support ends Jan 9, 2029)
- Windows Server 2022 (all editions — support ends Oct 14, 2031)
- Windows Server 2025 (all editions currently supported by Microsoft)
Desktop OS
- Windows 11 (all editions except Home, currently supported by Microsoft)
Desktop OS limitation. Although PriApps will run on a supported Windows desktop OS, performance may be affected due to the 20 concurrent network connection limit. Deployments with more than 5 managed printers/MFPs, or that require high-volume usage, should always use a Windows Server OS.
Hardware requirements (minimum)
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Processor | Intel® Xeon® server processor or equivalent |
| RAM | 8 GB |
| Disk space | 100 GB minimum (see sizing guidance below) |
| Network | TCP/IP connectivity to all managed print devices |
Disk space sizing
For Secure Print Release / Pull Print, use this formula to calculate minimum disk requirements:
Minimum disk (MB) = Printers × Jobs/hr × Max job size (MB) × Hold hours × (1 + Contingency)
Example:
10 MFPs × 60 jobs/hr × 10 MB × 3 hours × 1.2 contingency = 21,600 MB (~21 GB)
Database sizing
Each server transaction (print job, copy session, etc.) requires approximately 1.25 KB of database space.
Example: 500 users × 10 transactions/day × 1.25 KB = 6,250 KB/day
= ~6.1 MB/day | ~134 MB/month | ~34.6 GB/year
Other requirements
- Internet connection for online licensing
- TCP/IP network for server and print devices
- Wireless network for smartphone apps
- Supported browsers: Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Edge, Internet Explorer 8+
- Anti-virus programs should be configured to exclude the PriApps Application Server directory from real-time monitoring
Printer drivers should have SNMP disabled when using PriApps for Secure Print Release, as bidirectional communication between drivers and devices is not supported in this mode.
