Configuring the Primary Server
How to install, license, and configure the Primary Server (Hub0) in a PriApps Enterprise Deployment.
In a PriApps Enterprise Deployment there is exactly one Primary Server. It is installed at a central location and provides central configuration and reporting for all servers in the deployment.
In the Hub naming convention, the Primary Server is referred to as Hub0.
Role of the Primary Server
The Primary Server is responsible for:
- Central configuration — all enterprise-wide settings are managed here and distributed to Secondary Servers
- Central reporting — consolidated usage, cost, and activity data from all servers in the deployment
- Server synchronization — pushing configuration and user data to Secondary Servers
- Server backup and standby — coordinating failover capabilities across the deployment
The Primary Server does not typically handle local printing or MFP management directly. That function belongs to the Secondary Servers.
Step 1 — Install the PriApps software on all servers
Before configuring any server's Enterprise role, the PriApps software must be installed and licensed on every server that will participate in the deployment.
Install and license the Primary Server (Hub0)
Install and license a PriApps Application Server on the machine designated as the Primary Server (Hub0). Follow the standard installation procedure and licensing procedure.
Install and license Secondary Server Hub1
Install and license a PriApps Application Server on the machine designated as Hub1. Do not configure the Enterprise role yet.
Install and license Secondary Server Hub2
Install and license a PriApps Application Server on the machine designated as Hub2. Do not configure the Enterprise role yet.
Repeat for any additional Secondary Servers
If the deployment includes Hub3 or further Secondary Servers, install and license PriApps on each of those machines before proceeding.
Step 2 — Configure the Primary Server role
Once PriApps is installed and licensed on all servers, configure Hub0 as the Primary Server via the PriApps Admin UI.
Configuring the Primary Server will automatically configure the initial Secondary Servers (Hub1 and Hub2 in this example). The Primary Server pushes configuration to the Secondary Servers as part of this process.
Adding further Secondary Servers
After the initial deployment is configured, additional Secondary Servers (for example Hub3) can be added. See Configuring Secondary Servers for the procedure to add a new Secondary Server to an existing Enterprise Deployment.
